And then there are these cosmetic surgeries that can entirely transform just about any part of your body – from face lifts to liposuctions, certainly these procedures make looking good a breeze. Even your teeth can now be transformed from discolored and chipped to a gorgeous set of pearly whites – something that Boston dental veneers can do.

Over the past few years, cosmetic surgery has been driving the appearance conscious people to beauty clinics nearest them. Cosmetic surgeons turn into miracle workers when they turn unsatisfactory body parts to perfect human components. And the often dreaded trips to the dentist become fairytale visits when these dental surgeons become real life tooth fairies. Thanks to dental veneers, broken or chipped teeth become whole again without looking an inch fake. Teeth discoloration caused by smoking, for example, becomes a thing of the past as this wonderful innovation is proven to be stain resistant. And everyone now can flash a winning smile as this technique can do away with gaps between the teeth. With these benefits, it is no wonder that Boston dental veneers quickly gained popularity an earned a notable reputation.

But what exactly are dental veneers? A rather new technique in the field of cosmetic dentistry, dental veneers are thin shells of either porcelain or composite material that are bonded to a faulty piece or set of teeth. The more cheap and time saving option would be the composite veneers. Procedures usually only take a day to complete as the teeth are directly applied with bond and enamel. Although, the result may look somehow unsatisfactory as the treated area may appear flat and bulky looking. Moreover, this option may prove to be more costly in the end as it breaks easily and shrinks with age since it is not as durable as its porcelain counterpart. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, are thin shells of porcelain that resemble the color of natural tooth which are used to cover the front side of the teeth. They might be more costly and they the procedure takes a long time to complete but they last much longer and are not prone to breaking, stains and other mishaps that might occur with use and age.

To prepare the teeth for this cosmetic dental procedure, removing some of the enamel (about a millimeter) in the front surface of the teeth and a little etching are required. This ensures that the veneer will permanently bond with the teeth. Temporary ones will then be given for you to wear while the custom dental veneers are still to be made.

Chicago Cosmetic Dentistry Practice Provides Ultra-Thin, Futuristic Lumineers® Dental Veneers to Brighten Smiles

Chicago, IL (Vocus) July 27, 2009

The Dental Implant Associates, a dentistry practice in the Chicago area, sees a lot of patients come in to their offices who are stricken with fear of what will take place to them once they sit in the dentists chair. Like a lot of dental patients, a lot of of them are looking to correct prevalent aesthetic issues with the teeth such as chips, cracks, and stains; even so, the thought of numbing shots or a drill coming at their teeth are sufficient to make them skip treatment altogether, making the issue worse. For the last six years, The Dental Implant Associates, specializing in cosmetic dentistry and dental implants in Chicago, has been a Preferred Provider of Lumineers® dental veneers, a long-lasting alternative to porcelain veneers that entails no drilling, no shots, and less office visits than other procedures.

Standard dental veneers are efficient at masking teeth troubles such as discoloration, chips, gaps, and misalignment; nonetheless, they typically call for at least 3 visits to the dentist and a somewhat painful method of numbing injections and grinding down the affected tooth to make way for a permanent replacement veneer. Lumineers®, from Den-Mat Holdings, provide a lot of of the same advantages, but with some significant differences. At The Dental Implant Associates’ Chicago Lumineers® practice, cosmetic dentists do not need to use needles and drills throughout treatment. Since Lumineers® are ultra-thin, about the size of a contact lens, they are placed over the existing teeth as they are – reshaping the tooth is not essential. The Lumineers® procedure generally involves only two appointments: one to take an impression of the teeth; and one more to bond the Lumineer® onto the tooth and polish it. Doctors with The Dental Implant Associates say that, with a Lumineer®, the tooth can look natural with the surrounding teeth, feel comfortable, and result in no pain or sensitivity throughout or after the procedure.

Lumineers® are not for everybody, particularly patients with incredibly damaged teeth who would benefit a lot more from porcelain dental veneers or other possibilities. But Lumineers® can address several milder forms of tooth damage and discoloration, and they can last for up to 20 years or much more. For patients who are unsure about Lumineers®, The Dental Implant Associates can provide them with an additional innovative option: 3D imaging. With the LUMIsmile Digital Imaging system, the patient’s picture is taken and then digitally retouched to reflect the likely outcome if he or she has a Lumineer® placed onto their tooth. It can’t predict the future, but it can give patients a clearer concept of how the Lumineer® can improve the appearance of their teeth just before they even have the procedure.

Lumineers® are just one of the numerous techniques Dental Implant Associates tries to maintain ahead of the game in dental technology, and keeping smiles as healthy and bright as achievable.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 16, 2007

Celebrity Dentist Dr. Catrise Austin of VIP Smiles has joined forces with the Yul Brynner Head and Neck Cancer Foundation to sponsor the 9th annual Oral, Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Week, April 16th-22nd. The week’s activities contain a limited number of free oral cancer screenings and outreach presentations at local middle schools.

Dr. Austin said, “Over the years, as the rates for numerous cancers have steadily improved, oral cancer rates have remained stubbornly stagnant. Oral cancer in fact claims an average of 1 American life each and every hour, and it’s overall the sixth most-prevalent form of cancer. When diagnosed extremely early, it is fairly straightforward to treat and cure.” She continued, “Sadly, we as dental experts are not doing a very good enough job in finding these cancers early enough to aid save lives.”

To support the effort against oral cancer, Dr. Austin will be conducting a limited number of free oral cancer screenings in her office from April 16th-19th.

Dr. Austin says, “Oral cancer usually initial appears as a white or red lesion, visible to the naked eye that exists for far more than 2 weeks. Patients may well also feel tenderness or pain in the mouth that lasts longer than two weeks, or detect a lump in the mouth. At this stage, even so, it is typically too late, highlighting the significance of early detection.”

Dr. Austin recommends and uses the newest technology obtainable for oral cancer diagnosis, ViziLite Plus, for her patients. She explains, “A ViziLite Plus exam takes less than five minutes, and is safe and painless. Here’s how it works. The patient swishes with a special mouth rinse. Then the dentist examines the patient’s mouth making use of the ViziLite Plus glow stick. The glow stick highlights oral abnormalities and lesions not normally visible to the naked eye. If abnormalities are detected, we highlight them with a blue dye and right away refer the patient to a medical specialist for further examination and treatment.”

Dr. Austin recommends oral cancer screenings at least once per year as part of a routine checkup and cleaning go to. She recommends exams twice a year for those with predisposing risk factors, such as tobacco use (which includes chewing tobacco), heavy drinking or a family history of oral cancer. by Rob!

Article by Dr. Delhart L. Courtney, DDS

The 21st century has brought many possibilities to support us straighten, whiten, and replace bad teeth.

Dental Implants have been around for quite some time now. These are implanted to substitute the roots of our teeth. Dental implants are also employed to hold denture plates in location. Young adults or older patients can have dental implants as lengthy as their jaw bones and gums are strong enough to hold them in location. They look far better than actual dentures that can fall off your mouth when you’re talking or eating, which, we all have to admit, is extremely embarrassing! For children whose milk teeth have fallen off and whose adult teeth have been severely damaged, mini dental implants are now accessible and they are hardly, if not totally, unnoticeable.

Porcelain crowns and veneers are essential aspects of cosmetic dentistry. Crowns come in distinct forms, but the most well-known to date are porcelain crowns. A crown, also called “caps,” encases the whole teeth and corrects chipped, stained and discolored teeth. Porcelain crowns are a well-liked selection simply because closely resemble real teeth in terms of color and texture. These caps last for quite a long time. Porcelain crowns will wear out eventually after a decade or so. Retouching or replacement is natural for porcelain crowns. This procedure is a excellent investment since it is durable and quickly repaired. Obtaining crowns usually take two appointments, depending on how a lot of teeth you require to cover up.

Porcelain veneers are a bit comparable to crowns except that they aim to reshape the teeth and make teeth color far more uniform. Porcelain veneers are generally put in as a set and not just one by one. You could decide on between crowns and veneers since they serve comparable dental needs, nonetheless, porcelain veneers are much more perfect for folks who have crooked teeth, coffee or nicotine stained teeth, uneven sized teeth, and worn or chipped teeth. Porcelain veneers are as durable as crowns and will also require replacement after 10 to 15 years.

Each year, much more and more innovations on teeth whitening come out. For the past 2 years, one tooth whitening procedure has gained great popularity among dentists and patients. Zoom Whitening is a procedure that whitens teeth after just an hour’s time. Zoom Whitening uses a patented gel to brighten your teeth’s color and appearance. A special light technology is coupled with the gel to make the result last longer and the session time shorter. Zoom Whitening’s mixture of unique light and patented gel has the capacity to effectively breakdown stain molecules so they could be washed off throughout the rinsing process. The teeth whitening procedure is not only orally hygienic but it can also boosts one’s confidence by many folds.

I terms of teeth realignment, Invisalign is the new innovation. It is the updated version of braces, minus the wires, bands, and brackets. The edge of Invisalign is that is removable and transparent set of aligners. Invisalign is perfect for adults who want to straighten their teeth simply because they wouldn’t have to worry about the embarrassment of adolescent-searching braces. You can remove it each and every time you eat and it won’t bother you when you’re talking to other individuals. Selecting Invisalign can also lessen gum issues usually experienced with braces. Patients using Invisalign will want to change their aligners every single two weeks or so, depending on the state of their teeth.
